How to Delete Your Discord Account in 2026
What you need to know first
Disabling is a reversible pause (profile hidden, restorable anytime); deleting is permanent after a grace period and anonymizes your username to 'Deleted User'.
Step-by-step: delete your data from Discord
- Step 1: Open User Settings (cog icon, bottom left)
- Step 2: Select the My Account tab
- Step 3: Click Delete Account at the bottom
- Step 4: Transfer or delete ownership of any servers you own first
- Step 5: Click Delete Account again
- Step 6: Enter password (and MFA code if enabled) to confirm
On mobile
- Tap profile avatar > gear icon (Settings)
- Tap Account
- Transfer/delete owned servers
- Tap Delete Account and confirm with password/MFA
Separate data request
Request a copy of your data in Privacy & Safety settings; email privacy@discord.com for content-deletion help
Key gotchas
- Must transfer/delete owned servers before deleting
- Messages are NOT removed — delete sensitive ones first
- Cancel Nitro subscriptions and remove payment info
- MFA code required if enabled
What this doesn't cover
Your messages stay in servers/DMs after deletion (unattributed), and Discord may retain public posts to train its safety-detection models.
Messages you posted live on in servers and scraped archives after deletion; delist.ai focuses on the personal identifiers brokers hold.
