Lotame collects consumer data in bulk for advertisers and data resellers. You cannot look yourself up, but here is what they typically hold:

How to opt out of Lotame: step by step

1. Go to Lotame's Privacy Manager and click the opt-out button to set a Panorama ID opt-out cookie
2. Submit an email/phone identifier previously provided to Lotame; complete the email/SMS verification code
3. Note your request ID; save a screenshot
4. Perform DAA WebChoices (aboutads.info/choices) and NAI (optout.networkadvertising.org) opt-outs
5. Mobile: reset/limit advertising ID and use DAA AppChoices
6. Smart TVs: use NAI connected-TV opt-out

How long does Lotame removal take?

After you complete the opt-out, Lotame typically processes the request within hours. The Panorama ID can take up to 7 days to expire from browser storage.

The catch: your data comes back

The most important thing to understand about Lotame removal: it is temporary.

The opt-out cookie is third-party, so deleting cookies, blocking third-party cookies, or switching browsers or devices loses it. A probabilistic algorithm may assign you a new Panorama ID later. Lotame will not delete client-owned or client-controlled personal data, and because the behaviors are sourced from third parties, corrections are generally not feasible.

Data can return after an opt-out if the broker later ingests a new record. Whether and when that happens varies by company and source. Periodic checks can catch re-listings; a monitoring service can re-file when supported.

• Cached copies may persist. Google and other search engines may cache your Lotame profile for days or weeks after it is removed. Use Google's content removal tool to request de-indexing.
• Multiple profiles may exist. If you have lived in multiple states, changed your name, or have multiple phone numbers, Lotame may have built separate profiles for each variation. Search and opt out of each.

Tips for a successful opt-out

Use a dedicated email. Use an alias or a separate account for removal requests. Keeps your primary inbox out of Lotame's system and keeps confirmation emails organized.

Search every angle. Do not just search by name. Try phone number and email too. You may have more than one listing.
