How to Delete Your Snapchat Account in 2026
What you need to know first
No separate deactivate option; initiating deletion deactivates the account for 30 days (reactivate by logging in), then permanently deletes it.
Step-by-step: delete your data from Snapchat
- Step 1: Go to accounts.snapchat.com in a browser
- Step 2: Log in
- Step 3: Scroll to Delete My Account
- Step 4: Enter username and password
- Step 5: Click Continue — account enters 30-day deactivation
On mobile
- In-app: Profile > Settings > Support/'I Need Help' > search 'Delete' > Delete Account page; or use accounts.snapchat.com in a mobile browser
Separate data request
My Data download (accounts.snapchat.com > My Data) — 30 days to download after deletion starts
Key gotchas
- Must use the browser portal — cannot fully delete from within the app
- Download data within first 30 days or lose it
- Snapstreaks/Bitmoji are lost
- Saved messages in others' chats remain
What this doesn't cover
Deletion does not retract location/behavioral data already shared with Snap's ad partners or data brokers.
Snap's ad-partner data sharing happens before you delete; those brokered copies require independent removal.
