How to Delete Your TikTok Account in 2026
What you need to know first
TikTok offers both deactivate and delete in the same menu. Choosing delete starts a 30-day deactivation grace period; logging in within 30 days reactivates.
Step-by-step: delete your data from TikTok
- Step 1: Open TikTok and go to Profile
- Step 2: Tap Menu (three lines) > Settings and privacy
- Step 3: Tap Account
- Step 4: Tap Deactivate or delete account
- Step 5: Choose Delete account permanently, pick a reason and tap Continue
- Step 6: Confirm the data-download notice and tap Delete
Separate data request
Download your data (Settings > Account > Download your data); email support@tiktok.com if locked out
Key gotchas
- Uninstalling the app does NOT delete the account
- Back up videos first — lost after 30 days
- Others' duets/stitches remain
- Email support if you can't log in
What this doesn't cover
Deleting TikTok does not remove personal data already shared with advertising/analytics partners or copied by brokers.
TikTok's documented data sharing means deletion alone leaves brokered copies of your activity online.
