How to Control and Delete Your Data in Microsoft Copilot (2026)
What you need to know first
Separate actions: turn off model-training toggles, delete conversation history in Copilot, and delete activity via the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard.
Step-by-step: delete your data from Microsoft Copilot
- Step 1: Go to copilot.com and sign in with your personal Microsoft account
- Step 2: Click your profile icon > profile name > Privacy
- Step 3: Toggle off 'Training on conversation activity' and 'Training on voice conversations'
- Step 4: Delete conversations in Copilot, or use account.microsoft.com/privacy > Activity history to delete Copilot activity
On mobile
- Open the Copilot app > menu > profile icon > Account > Privacy
- Toggle off the two training settings
Opt out of AI training
copilot.com or app > Privacy > turn off 'Training on conversation activity' and 'Training on voice conversations'. In Office, disable Optional Connected Experiences (File > Options > Trust Center > Privacy Options). Training is ON by default except in EEA/UK/Switzerland where it's off by default. Microsoft 365 Copilot with work/school accounts is covered by Enterprise Data Protection (admin-controlled) and is not used to train foundation models.
