How to Remove Your Data from Google Gemini in 2026
What you need to know first
There's no standalone 'Gemini account' — Gemini is tied to your Google Account. You can turn off Keep Activity (stops saving), delete past activity, or both at once.
Step-by-step: delete your data from Google Gemini
- Step 1: Go to gemini.google.com on your computer
- Step 2: Click Settings & help > Activity (or go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini)
- Step 3: Near the top, click 'Turn off' or 'Turn off and delete activity'
- Step 4: To set auto-delete: choose 3, 18, or 36 months or 'Don't auto-delete'
- Step 5: Confirm
On mobile
- Open the Gemini app or gemini.google.com
- Tap Menu/profile > Gemini Apps Activity
- Tap 'Turn off' or 'Turn off and delete activity'
- Confirm
Opt out of AI training
Turning off Keep Activity (Gemini Apps Activity) stops conversations being saved and human-reviewed. A separate opt-in setting controls using audio/Gemini Live video to train generative AI — leave it off.
Separate data request
My Activity (myactivity.google.com) to review/delete; Gemini Apps Privacy Hub; whole-account deletion via myaccount.google.com
Key gotchas
- 72-hour retention applies even with activity off
- Turning off activity disables Workspace (Gmail/Drive/Docs) integrations in Gemini
- Human reviewers may see conversations when activity is on
- Work/school accounts are controlled by the Workspace admin
What this doesn't cover
Some data already reviewed by humans or used in training may remain even after you delete activity; this is independent of data brokers.
Switching off Gemini activity controls what Google stores from your chats, but your personal data on broker sites is untouched.
