What you need to know first

Step-by-step: delete your data from ChatGPT
- Step 1: Sign in at chatgpt.com
- Step 2: Click your profile icon > Settings
- Step 3: Open Data Controls
- Step 4: Toggle off 'Improve the model for everyone'
- Step 5: To delete account: Settings > Data Controls > Delete account (or via the privacy portal)
On mobile
- Open the ChatGPT app > tap profile/menu
- Tap Settings > Data Controls
- Toggle off 'Improve the model for everyone' (syncs across devices)
Opt out of AI training
Settings > Data Controls > turn off 'Improve the model for everyone'; OR privacy.openai.com > 'do not train on my content'. Temporary Chat is never used for training. Business/Enterprise/Edu and API are not trained on by default.

Key gotchas
