How to stop X from using your posts to train Grok in 2026
What you need to know first
Separate actions: turn off the Grok training toggle, delete your Grok conversation history, or make your account private (strongest control). Distinct from deleting your X account.
Step-by-step: delete your data from Grok (X)
- Step 1: Log in at x.com
- Step 2: Go to Settings → Privacy & Safety
- Step 3: Scroll to "Data sharing and personalization"
- Step 4: Select "Grok & Third-party Collaborators"
- Step 5: Under "Data Sharing", de-select "Allow your public data as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok and xAI to be used for training and fine-tuning"
- Step 6: Under "Grok Personalization", de-select "Allow X to personalize your experience with Grok" (a separate control)
- Step 7: Optionally, under Grok, use "Delete Conversation History"
On mobile
- Tap profile menu > Settings and Support > Settings and privacy
- Tap Privacy and Safety > Grok
- Toggle off the training permission
Opt out of AI training
Settings > Privacy and safety > 'Grok & Third-party Collaborators' > uncheck the training permission. Making your account private prevents your posts being used to train Grok at all (strongest method). EU/EEA/UK users have a GDPR Article 21 objection right.

Key gotchas
- There are TWO separate switches — training/data-sharing and personalization
